How many more such graves are yet to be discovered across Canada?

Call to Worship

Praise, My Soul, the God of Heaven
(VU 240)

Praise, my soul, the God of heaven;
Glad of heart your carols raise;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven
Who, like me, should sing God's praise?
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Praise the Maker all your days!

Praise God for the grace and favour
Shown our forebears in distress;
God is still the same forever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless:
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Sing our Maker's faithfulness!

Like a loving parent caring,
God knows well our feeble frame;
Gladly all our burdens bearing,
Still to countless years the same.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
All within me, praise God's name!

Frail as summer's flower we flourish,
Blows the wind and it is gone;
But, while mortals rise and perish,
God endures unchanging on.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Praise the high eternal one.

Angels, teach us adoration,
you behold God face to face;
sun and moon and all creation,
dwellers all in time and space.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Praise with us the God of grace!

Luke 7:36-8:3

Spirit, Divine, Attend Our Prayers
VU 385

Spirit divine, attend our prayers,
And make this house your home;
Descend with all your gracious powers:
O come, great Spirit, come!

Come as the light: to us reveal
Our emptiness and woe;
And lead us in those paths of life
Where all the righteous go.

Come as the wind: sweep clean away
What dead within us lies,
And search and freshen all our souls
With living energies.

Come as the fire and purge our hearts
Like sacrificial flame;
Let our whole life an offering be
To our Redeemer's name.

Spirit divine, attend our prayers:
Make a lost world your home;
Descend with all your gracious powers:
O come, great Spirit, come!

-- Anthem --

Celtic Gloria

Traditional Latin text from the "Ordinary of the Mass."
Music by Kirby Shaw. (Sung on Sunday, April 13, 2008.)

Gloria in Excelsis Deo.
Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis.
Laudamus te. Benedicimus te.
Adoramus te. Glorificamus te.
Gratias agimus tibi
Propter magnam gloriam tuam.
Domine Deus, Rex coelestis,
Deus Pater omnipotens.
Domine Fili unigenite, Jesu Christe.
Domine Deus, Agnus Dei, Filius Patris...

Glory in the highest to God.
And on earth peace to men of good will.
We praise thee. We bless thee.
We worship thee. We glorify Thee.
Thanks we give to thee
Because of great glory thy.
Lord God, King of heaven,
God Father Almighty.
Lord Son only begotten, Jesus Christ.
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of Father...

Sung Dedication

What can I Do? What can I bring?
What can I say? What can I sing?
I'll sing with joy.
I'll say a prayer.
I'll bring my love.
I'll do my share.

The Day You Gave Us, God, Is Ended
VU 437

The day you gave us, God, is ended,
The sun is sinking in the west;
To you our morning hymns ascended,
Your praise shall sanctify our rest.

We thank you that your church unsleeping,
While earth rolls onward into light,
Through all the world a watch is keeping,
And rests not now by day or night.

As o'er each continent and island,
The dawn leads on another day,
The voice of prayer is never silent,
Nor dies the strain of praise away.

The sun that bids us rest is waking
Your church beneath the western sky,
And hour by hour fresh lips are making
Your wondrous doings heard on high.

So be it God! Your throne shall never,
Like earth's proud empires, pass away;
Your rule remains and grows forever,
Until there dawns that glorious day.

This is the day that God has made;
We will rejoice and be glad!
Singing hallelu, singing hallelu,
Singing hallelu!
We will rejoice and be glad!
Singing hallelu, singing hallelu,
Singing hallelu!
We will rejoice and be glad!

Spread Thy Voice Around

From the oratorio Solomon

(HWV 67) by Handel.

George Frideric Handel

(1685 - 1759)

So, as we wind down from all the excitement:
A few more tunes to belt out as you putter about...

Great Is Thy Faithfulness
(VU 288)

Refrain
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed thy hand hath provided--
Great is thy faithfulness, ever to me!

Great is thy faithfulness, God our Creator;
There is no shadow of turning with thee;
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
As thou hast been thou forever wilt be.
Refrain

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon, and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.
Refrain

O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go
(VU 658)

O Love that wilt not let me go,
I rest my weary soul in thee;
I give thee back the life I owe,
0 That in thine ocean depths its flow
May richer, fuller be.

O Joy that seekest me through pain,
I cannot close my heart to thee;
I trace the rainbow through the rain,
And feel the promise is not vain
That morn shall tearless be.
