and the shepherd on the hill outside Bethlehem.
They will find their way to the crêche by Christmas eve.

For the sermon, the Sunday School children recounted the story of how White Gift Sunday originated in the USA in 1904.

"Grandma" Shauna Overbury and "Grandpa" Justin Roy gave the background,

while Erin Overbury, Alayna Roy and Cassandra McKenzie acted out the story with some help from Sunday School Superintendent Susan McKenzie.

The gifts included white gifts of food for the food bank, whose long-time representative Margaret Payette of Resurrection Church accepted a cheque from Val Coffin of the Summerlea / St. Andrew's Outreach Committee.
Margaret also gave a brief overview of the many benevolent works provided at Resurrection in concert with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Also received were gifts for needy children selected from last Sunday's Outreach Committee gift tree.
