The annual Christmas Dessert Concert of the Lakeshore Concert
Band was held in Acadia Hall at Summerlea United at 7:30 PM
Sunday, December 19, 2010. The concert features music of the
Christmas season plus, along with a multitude of
desserts prepared by the volunteers of the Lakeshore Concert
The band was under the direction of guest conductor Vincent Dodier, as regular conductor Mark Dharmaratnam was busy playing the trumpet for the Nutcracker in Montreal. Mr. Dodier has a very different conducting style from Mr. Dharmaratnam, but the band responded with enthusiasm to present a very enjoyable musical evening, enhanced by delicious desserts.
The band got themeselves prepared as folks found themselves a seat.|
In the first shot we see Leslie Field near the centre.
In the second shot hubby Keith is fiddling with a microphone .
Later in the show it was discovered that Keith has been with the band for 42 years!
|The tables were getting pretty well filled up as the band finished preparing.|
The desserts were set out in St. Andrew's hall.|
When an invitation was issued to go get 'em, we did.
From the rear of the hall the band is a blur |
on the stage, but no trouble hearing them.
The recording guy had twelve mikes set amongst the band.|
Afte intermission the Clarinet Trio Chalumeau played four pieces.
Leslie Field was billed as the soloist for "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas",|
but from my vantage (disdvantage?) point I was not sure it was Leslie.
Director Dodier uses lots of body language in his conducting.|
All stood for enthusiastic applause at the end, before giving an encore.
Our thanks to the Lakeshore Concert Band for their very enjoyable music,|
and to their volunteers for the sumptuous desserts.
