Earth Day 2012 at Summerlea included a number of events: Leslie Field played a saxophone solo of "Passepied" - from Suite Bergamasque, C. Debussy in memory of her father, Donald Vincent; Undeg Edwards presented a cheque in the amount of $845 representing the 23rd (not sure of that number) mile of pennies collected by Summerlea folk, to the Executive Director of St. Columba House, Rev. Patricia Lisson; Sinclair Harris presented Aileen Smiley of Dix-Milles Villages, who spoke about Fair Trade with an interesting exposé on the background of fair trade coffee; The Outreach Committee put on a "100 mile lunch", consisting of soup, homemade bread and apple crisp, all made from ingredients produced within 100 miles from Summerlea. |
Summerlea Music Director Connie Osborne accompanied Leslie and Leslie'a husband, Keith, turned pages for Connie. |
