Howard was born in Stratford, Ontario. He died peacefully at home, loved and supported by his wife Dianne on March 9, 2011.
He was the most cherished father of Joan (Joe Warshawski, Ryan, Kassia, James, Andrew), Sharon (Mitch Haladuick, Shane, Tyler, Janna), and Beth (Brad Tink, Mikaela, Braden, Emma ) all residing in Calgary AB.
And, he will be dearly missed by Dianne's children Jamie (Mike Dagenais), Jeff Jones (Patti, Jack and Mary), and Jennifer (Dave Sabourin, Eric and Sydney).
Howard was predeceased by his wife Katherine, sister Doreen and brother Roy. He is survived by his sister Lois (John Petker), Bill Goodyear (Christine). He will be fondly remembered by his extended family all of which he remained connected to. The stories he told until the end, were about his Phoebe buddies, and the poker and bridge boys.
There are not enough words to express our gratitude to the folks who have supported us through these past few months. We also have been blessed with exemplary care from the CCAC, Hospice, and the Palliative Home Care Unit.
As per Howard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please give to a charity of your choice.
If he were to write his secret to a long life he might say 'drink a scotch (or two) a day, enjoy your eggs with bacon and white bread, live in the present, love your wife and family, laugh with your friends and loved ones, be a good neighbour and contribute'. He was a man who lived simply yet fully. He will be missed.
