God of All Places
(VU 4)

God of all places:
Present, unseen;
Voice in our silence,
Song in our midst.
We are your people,
Knowing, unsure.

R: Come, Lord Jesus, come!

God of all dreaming,
Near and yet far.
Vision unheard of,
Wake us to rest.
We are your presence,
Sent forth afraid. R.

God of all people,
Dust and the clay.
Breath of a new wind,
Fire in our hearts.
Light born of heaven,
Peace on the earth. R.

A Prayer for Peace During Advent

O God of peace,
As we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ,
We ask for your peace to fill our world,
Our homes, and our lives.

In this season of Advent,
May the hope of the Christ Child,
Born in the quiet of Bethlehem,
Guide us to embrace peace in all that we do.

Help us to be peacemakers,
To offer compassion where there is conflict,
And kindness where there is fear.
Let your peace reign in our hearts,
So that it may shine in our actions and words.
May your Spirit of love heal divisions,
Bring understanding to those who differ,
And transform hearts to seek unity and harmony.

Lord, we pray for the peace of all nations,
For the healing of broken relationships,
And for the end of suffering and injustice.

As we wait for the coming of your Son,
Fill us with the courage to be instruments of peace,
Reflecting the light of Christ to all we encounter.

In his name, we pray.
Amen.

Lighting the Advent Candle

Come to me! Hear my voice! Look!
A star will guide you to the Saviour!
Through the cities, the wilderness,
the sea, and the land, we come!

Come closer! Pray my name! Tell about the Spirit
and be ready!
Yes! We come, we heard you calling us,
and we left at once.

Be my own. Be my children. Be those I need to bring
Peace to the world.
We gather and share our hope and peace so that
Christ can be born again among us.

The Candle of Peace is lit.

O Little Town of Bethlehem
(vu 64)

O little town of Bethlehem
How still we see thee lie!
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
The silent stars go by;
Yet in the dark street shineth
The everlasting Light;
The hopes and fears of all the years
Are met in thee tonight.

For Christ is born of Mary;
And gathered all above,
While mortals sleep, the angels keep
Their watch of wondering love.
O morning stars, together
Proclaim the holy birth,
And praises sing to God, the King,
And peace to all on earth.

How silently, how silently
The wondrous Gift is given!
So God imparts to human hearts
The blessed gift of heaven.
No ear may hear his coming;
But in this world of sin,
Where meek souls will receive Him,
still, the dear Christ enters in.

O holy Child of Bethlehem,
Descend to us, we pray;
Cast out our sin and enter in;
Be born in us today.
We hear the Christmas angels
The great glad tidings tell;
Oh, come to us, abide with us,
Our Lord Immanuel!

Prepare The Way of the Lord
(VU 10)

Prepare the way of the Lord!
Prepare the way of the Lord!
Make a straight path for him,
Make a straight path;
Prepare the way of the Lord!

Romans 8:18-25

The written text is HERE.

Hope Is a Star
(VU 7, verses 1 & 2)

Hope is a star that shines in the night,
Leading us on till the morning is bright.

R: When God is a child
There's joy in our song.
The last shall be first
And the weak shall be strong,
And none shall be afraid.

Peace is a ribbon
That circles the earth,
Giving a promise of safety and worth. R.

A Candle is Burning
(VU 6, verses 1 & 2)

A candle is burning, a flame warm and bright ,
A candle of hope in December's dark night.
While angels sing blessings from heaven's starry sky,
Our hearts we prepare now for Jesus is nigh.

A candle is burning, a candle of peace,
A candle to signal that conflict must cease:
For Jesus is coming to show us the way ;
A message of peace humbly laid in the hay.

R: God shall fulfill the promise
and bring the people peace.

(Father of John the Baptist)

Sunday

- The Anthem -

He Will Come
(John L. Bell)

He will come when we're least expecting him,
When the world is unprepared
As if orphaned from it's destiny,
As if no creator cared,
Though for us, it's out of season,
God decides the place and time...

- The Offering -

Offertory
(MV 21)

Open our hearts,
Open our minds.
Open our lives to you
m O loving God.
Open our hearts.

Prayer for the Offering

Gracious God,
Now in the Second Sunday of this holy season of Advent,
we bring before You our offerings,
gifts of love, hope, and faith.

We offer these tokens of our hearts,
trusting that they will be used
to further Your work of peace, justice,
and mercy in the world.

May these gifts be a sign
of our anticipation for the coming of Christ,
who brings light into our darkness.

Bless these offerings, O Lord,
that they may be used to build Your kingdom,
to care for the needy,
and to share the joy of Your salvation with all.

As we await the birth of the Saviour,
may our hearts be opened
to receive Him with generosity, kindness, and love.

Let these offerings reflect our commitment to follow Christ
and to live in service to others.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

O Lord, How Shall I Meet You
(VU 31)

O Lord, how shall I meet You,
How welcome You aright?
Your people long to greet You,
My hope, my heart's delight!
O kindle, Lord most holy,
Your lamp within my breast
To do in spirit lowly
All that may please you best.

Love caused Your incarnation;
Love brought You down to me.
Your thirst for my salvation
Procured my liberty.
Oh, love behond all telling,
That led You to embrace
In love, all loves excelling,
Our lost and fallen race.

A glorious crown you give me,
A treasure made on high,
That will not fail nor leave me
As earthly riches fly.
My heart shall bloom forever
For you with praises new,
And from your name shall never
Withhold the honour due.

Commissioning

You are sent from this holy place
Go out to bring Hope and Peace to your world.
As we pass this door, we become a messenger
of God.

You are, wherever you go, and whoever you meet!
We are the new Magi and Shepherds of our time
And you are blessed.
