Introit
(VU 444, verses 2&3)

Child of love, our love's expression,
Love's creation, loved indeed!
Fresh from God, refresh our spirits,
Into joy and laughter lead.

Child of joy, our dearest treasure,
God's you are, from God you came.
Back to God we humbly give you;
Live as one who bears Christ's name.

Call to Worship

Praise be to God we are loved!
We come to worship in this brave, blessed space!
Come and rest assured that if you are here this morning,
it is because the Holy Spirit called you to come here.
We come and long to share some time with God and
ourselves.
Amen: we are loved!

In the Garden

I come to the garden alone,
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear,
Falling on my ear;
The Son of God discloses.

And He walks with me,
And He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

I Heard the Voice of Jesus
(VU 626)

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
"Come unto me and rest;
Lay down, O weary one, lay down
Your head upon my breast."
I came to Jesus as I was,
So weary, worn, and sad.
I found in him a resting place,
And he has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
"Behold, I freely give
The living water, thirsty one;
Stoop down and drink and live."
I came to Jesus, and I drank
Of that life-giving stream.
My thirst was quenched,
My soul revived,
And now I live in him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say,
"I am the dawning light.
Look unto me, your morn shall rise,
And all your day be bright."
I looked to Jesus, and I found
In him my star, my sun,
And in that light of life I'll walk
Till travelling days are done.

Words of Assurance

Walk with Me
(VU 649)

R: Walk with me, I will walk with you
And build the land that God has planned
Where love shines through.

When Moses heard the call of God
He said, "Lord, don't send me."
But God told Moses, "You're the one
To set my people free."
R.

Now Peter was a most unlikely man
To lead the flock;
But Jesus knew his holiness
And he became the Rock.
R.

Young Mary Magdalene was sure
Her life could be much more,
And by her faith she dared
To let God's love unlock the door.
R.

And when you share your faith with me
And work for life made new,
The witness of your faithfulness
Calls me to walk with you.
R.

The New Creed

We are not alone,
we live in God's world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.

* Baptismal Hymn *
I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry
(VU 644)

I was there to hear your borning cry,
I'll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
to see your life unfold.

I was there when you were but a child,
with a faith to suit you well;
In a blaze of light you wandered off
to find where demons dwell."

"When you heard the wonder of the Word
I was there to cheer you on;
You were raised to praise the living Lord,
to whom you now belong.

If you find someone to share your time
and you join your hearts as one,
I'll be there to make your verses rhyme
from dusk 'till rising sun."

In the middle ages of your life,
not too old, no longer young,
I'll be there to guide you through the night,
complete what I've begun.

When the evening gently closes in,
and you shut your weary eyes,
I'll be there as I have always been
with just one more surprise."

"I was there to hear your borning cry,
I'll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized,
to see your life unfold."

- Anthem -

Bread of the world in mercy broken,
Wine of the soul in mercy shed,
By whom the words of life were spoken,
And in whose death our sins are dead...

(by Ron Klusmeier)

Prayer Over the Offering

Music and laughter,
hands and minds,
curiosity and compassion:
what an abundance of gifts we have!
All these gifts are symbolized in our offering.
We truly commit ourselves in service,
as we worship God with our offering.
Bless us all Holy One,
and bless all who will benefit from these offerings.
Amen.

Offertory Hymn

God of Love, hear our prayer,
Bless this offering we bring you
May our lives do your will
Grant us guard us forever.

Give us courage to stand for truth
Help us care for others
God of love, hear our prayer,
Bless this offering we bring you.

I Have Called You by Your Name
(MV 161)

I have called you by your name,
You are mine;
I have gifted you and ask you
Now to shine.
I will not abandon you;
All my promises are true.
You are gifted, called,
And chosen; you are mine.

I will help you learn
my name as you go;
Read it written in my people,
Help them grow.
Pour the water in my name,
Speak the word your soul can claim,
Offer Jesus' body, given long ago.

I know you will need
My touch as you go;
Feel it pulsing
In creation's ebb and flow.
Like the woman reaching out,
Choosing faith in spite of doubt,
Hold the hem of Jesus' robe,
Then let it go.

I have given you a name,
It is mine;
I have given you my Spirit as a sign.
With my wonder in your soul,
Make my wounded children whole;
Go and tell my precious people
They are mine.

Commissioning

Now Go! You know what we are saying,
what we are preaching and what we are doing!
We go, strengthened by God, by Christ,
by the Holy Spirit.

Well, go, be your best,
enjoy life, be a blessing to others.
Amen! We leave this place with hope and joy
renewed in the blessed name of Christ.

Welcome baby Jaxson
Welcome baby Jaxson! Amen.
