How Good, Lord, To Be Here
(VU 103, verse 1)

How good, Lord, to be here!
Your glory fills the night;
Your face and garments, like the sun,
Shine with unborrowed light.

- Call to Worship -

Call to Worship

Come to worship this morning on this beautiful
Feast of Transfiguration.
We come, called by the Spirit
and happy to gather in this safe place!

We come again on this path towards Easter and God's
light is everywhere.
As we pray and sing our gratitude and faith, we are
filled with happiness and joy.

May this joy be with you always!
And also with you!

When Morning Gilds the Skies
(VU 339)

When morning gilds the skies,
My heart awakening cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When evening shadows fall,
This rings my curfew call:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

To God, the Word on high,
The hosts of angels cry:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let mortals, too, upraise their voice
In hymns of praise:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Let all of humankind
In this their concord find:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Let all the earth around
Ring joyous with the sound:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Be this, while life is mine,
My canticle divine:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this th'eternal song,
Through all the ages long:
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Spirit of Gentleness
(VU 375)

R: Spirit, Spirit of gentleness,
Blow through the wilderness
Calling and free;
Spirit, Spirit of restlessness,
Stir me from placidness,
Wind, wind on the sea.

The sprit of god moved
on the waters...

You moved on the waters,
You called to the deep,
Then you coaxed up the mountains
From the valleys of sleep;
And over the eons you called to each thing:
"Awake from your slumbers
And rise on your wings."
R.

You swept through the desert,
you stung with the sand,
And you goaded your people
With a law and a land;
And when they were blinded
With idols and lies,
Then you spoke through your prophets
To open their eyes.
R.

You sang in a stable,
You cried from a hill,
Then you whispered in silence
When the whole world was still;
And down in the city
You called once again,
When you blew through your people
On the rush of the wind.
R.

You call from tomorrow,
You break ancient schemes.
From the bondage of sorrow
All the captives dream dreams;
Our women see visions,
Our men clear their eyes.
With bold new decisions
Your people arise.
R.

Open our hearts, open our minds.
Open our lives to you O loving God.
Open our hearts.
Open our lives to you O loving God.
Open our hearts.

Ouvre nos cœurs, Ouvre nos pensées;
Ouvre nos vies à toi, ô Dieu d'amour.
Ouvre nos cœurs, Ouvre nos pensées;

Ouvre nos cœurs.

Holy, Holy, Holy
(VU 315, verse 1)

Holy, holy, holy!
Lord God almighty!
Early in the morning
Our song shall rise to thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful, and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

Commentary

Prayer

Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.

Prayer

Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory is yours, God most holy,
now and forever.

Prayer after Communion

It is good to be together here with you Lord.
This is your house of prayer
And we celebrate your presence among us.
The bread and wine we eat and drink
Bring us closer to you and to one another.
May we live in peace.
Amen.

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You
(VU 232)

Joyful, joyful, we adore You,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before you,
Opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

All Your works with joy surround You,
Earth and heaven reflect Your rays,
Stars and angels sing around You,
Center of unbroken praise;
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Praising You eternally!

Always giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Well-spring of the joy of living,
Ocean-depth of happy rest!
Loving Father, Christ our Brother,
Let Your light upon us shine;
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the mighty chorus,
Which the morning stars began;
God's own love is reigning o'er us,
Joining people hand in hand.
Ever singing, march we onward,
Victors in the midst of strife;
Joyful music leads us sunward
In the triumph song of life.

Commissioning

Go out now, into the light,
and bring this light with you
everywhere you go!
We go, energized and positive,
happy and bold to carry the Good news.

Wherever you will be this week,
We will carry God's love and message with us.
Yes, and share it through your deeds and words.

I Love Paris

I love Paris in the spring time
I love Paris in the fall
I love Paris in the summer when it sizzles
I love Paris in the winter when it drizzles

I love Paris every moment
Every moment of the year
I love Paris, why oh why do I love Paris
Because my love is here...
