As the Sun with Longer Journey
(VU 111)

As the sun of longer journey
Melts the winter's snow and ice,
With its slowly growing radiance
Warms the seed beneath the earth,
May the sun of Christ's uprising
Gently bring our hearts to life.

Through the days of waiting,
Watching, in the desert of our sin,
Searching on the far horizon
For a sign of cloud or wind,
We await the healing waters
Of our Savior's victory.

Call to Worship

We live in extraordinary times.
We welcome all of you.
We come to praise God and show our gratefulness
for our lives.

We have so much to share and be proud of.
We gather and pause to ponder and realize
how good God is.

May we pray and sing together in one voice, in this Church.
Amen!

The United Church Creed

We are not alone,
we live in God's world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.

Opening Prayer

Giver of the Perfect Gift
(VU 116)

Giver of the perfect gift,
Only hope of human race,
Hear the prayer our hearts uplift
Trembling at thy throne of grace.

Though the accusing voice within
Speaks of many a wrong to thee,
Thou canst cleanse from every sin,
Thou canst set the conscience free.

Who can save us, Lord, but thou?
Let thy mercy show thy power.
Lo, we plead thy promise now,
Now, in this accepted hour.

Oh! may these our Lenten days,
Blest by thee, with thee be passed,
That with purer, nobler praise
We may keep thy feast at last.

God the holy trinity,
Grant the mercy we implore;
God the One, all praise to thee
Through the ages evermore.

After our confession there are...

Words of Assurance

In You There Is a Refuge
(MV 84)

In you there is a refuge,
I you we find our peace.
When all we know is chaos may our
Trust in you increase.
In you there is a silence,
In you our minds are clear.
When all we hear is discord may
your quiet draw us near.

In you there is a vision,
In you we learn to dream.
When all we see is desert
May you be our living stream.
In you there is a future,
In you we find our way.
When hope has shed its brightness
May you show us a new day.

Rev. Beryl's

Sunday Message

- The Anthem -

A Triune Prayer
(Molly Ijames)

Blessed Father, hear our cry.
Cast out sin, but draw us nigh.
Not for merit we have none;
For your mercy, for your son.
Father, hear our cry.
Blessed Jesus make our plea.
In your name to God we flee,
We seek his face,
By your priesthood claim his grace...

- The Offering -

Prayer for the Offering

Pour Your grace over our offerings Eternal God,
that this blessing multiplies
and heals the hearts of those we are trying to help.
Grant us all your tender presence so we recognize you
and acknowledge your bounty and your goodness.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray.
Amen.

Deep in Our Hearts
(MV 154)

Deep in our hearts there is a common vision;
Deep in our hearts there is a common song;
Deep in our hearts there is a common story,
Telling Creation that we are one.

Deep in our hearts there is a common purpose;
Deep in our hearts there is a common goal;
Deep in our hearts there is a sacred message,
Justice and Peace in harmony.

Deep in our hearts there is a common longing;
Deep in our hearts there is a common theme;
Deep in our hearts there is a common current,
Flowing to freedom like a stream.

Deep in our hearts there is a common vision;
Deep in our hearts there is a common song;
Deep in our hearts there is a common story,
Telling Creation that we are one.

O God, Our Help in Ages Past
(VU 806 - Psalm 90)

O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.

Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defense is sure.

Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.

A thousand ages in thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.

Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
We fly, forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.

O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home.

Commissioning

Go now, go share a coffee, a conversation
with your brothers and sisters.
We go for fellowship,
a sign of God's tender presence.

Go and be a blessing for all around you.
We leave, carrying a message of friendship and
kindness to all.

Amen

Amen, Amen, Hallelujah, Amen!
Amen, Amen, Hallelujah, Amen!

-- Postlude --

Blowing in the Wind
(Bob Dylan, 1962)

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, and how many times must the cannonballs fly
Before they're forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

Yes, and how many years must a mountain exist
Before it is washed to the sea?
Yes, and how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, and how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see? ...
