Concerto Della Donna at Summerlea 20 March 2010

Concerto Della Donna, under the direction of Iwan Edwards,
presented an evening of wonderful choral music by seventeen
young ladies at Summerlea Saturday evening 20 March, 2010. The programme included a number of Canadian and unfamiliar numbers, including three Irish ballads (in deference to the Irish saint who shares March with the Welsh St. David), one with very subtle percussion, one with violin accompaniment by two of the singers, and a Finnish interpretation of the Aurora Borealis, including movements and sounds that brought the Northern Lights to life. Iwan Edwards mentioned that ten of the singers had started with Della Donna only this year, and had to learn six of the numbers in a period of one month when they decided to enter the CBC choral competition in which they are now finalists. He seemed to be genuinely moved by the dedication and enthusiasm of the young singers. Following is a photo of the singers.
