O God, Why Are You Silent?
(MV 73, verses 4 & 5)

Through endless nights of weeping
Through weary days of grief
My heart is in your keeping
My comfort, my relief
Come, share my tears and sadness
Come, suffer in my pain
Oh, bring me home to gladness
Restore my hope again

May pain draw forth compassion
Let wisdom rise from loss
Oh, take my heart and fashion
The image of your cross
Then may I know your healing
Through healing that I share
Your grace and love revealing
Your tenderness and care

May this light give comfort to all who suffer, all who mourn, and all who are in pain. May this light be visible to all who have need of it. May it light the deepest and most difficult of nights and draw us closer to the love of God that we know through Christ.

Call to Worship

May the God of grace be welcome in our midst.
May we receive the power and peace of divine love.
Come let us worship with our hearts and minds and bodies.
Let us become one seeking justice and compassion.
Blessed be God who challenges, heals, and unites us.
Blessed by our learning and blessed be our vision.
Blessed be God who inspires all things to be new.

Spirit of the living God
(VU 376)

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me;
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me;
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

Spirit of the living God, move among us all;
Make us one in heart and mind,
Mke us one in love.
Humble, caring, selfless, sharing -
Spirit of the living God,
Fll our lives with love!

Opening Prayer

Gracious, Living God,
there are times when we feel dry and empty,
like the dry bones Ezekiel saw in the valley.
Breathe upon us, O God,
and revitalize us, reanimate us, reawaken us,
rekindle in us the fire of your Spirit,
that we may share fully in the grace
and the life you give. Amen.

Prayer of Confession
(Together)

God, you have called us to be pilgrims.
Forgive us when we are weary of the journey
and seek security rather than the open road.
Forgive us when we feel
the risk of the journey is too great.
Grant us pilgrim spirits in this Lenten season
and lead us to the new life of Easter.
Amen.

Friends, God is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
God has compassion for our fears and failures;
God stays with us on our Lenten journey.
We are a forgiven people.

Thanks be to God.

Breathe on Me, Breath of God
(VU 382)

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until my will is one with thine.
To do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, Breath of God,
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.

How Firm a Foundation
(VU 660)

How firm a foundation, you servants of God,
Is laid for your faith in God's excellent word!
What more can be said
Than to you has been said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

"Fear not, I am with you; O be not dismayed!
For I am your God and will still give you aid;
I'll strengthen and help you,
And cause you to stand,
Upheld by my righteous omnipotent hand.

"When through the deep waters
I call you to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with you, your troubles to bless,
And sanctify to you your deepest distress.

"When through fiery trials
Your pathway shall lie,
My grace, all sufficient, shall be your supply:
The flame shall not hurt you; I only design
Your dross to consume, and your gold to refine.

"The soul that on Jesus has leaned for repose
I will not-I will not desert to his foes;
That soul, though all hell
Should endeavour to shake,
I'll never-no, never-no, never forsake!"

Locus iste a Deo factus est,
inaestimabile sacramentum,
irreprehensibilis est.

This place was made by God,
a priceless sacrament;
it is without reproach.

- The Offering -

Dedication of the Offering

Loving and generous God,
you have blessed us in so many ways.
We now return a portion of your gifts;
use them for the work of your church,
multiply them and share them with those in need.
By your grace, make our lives
a testament to your love. Amen.

Offertory

My Love Colours Outside the Lines
( MV 138)

My love colours outside the lines,
Exploring paths that few could ever find;
And takes me into places
Where I've never been before,
And opens doors to worlds outside the lines.

My Lord colours outside the lines,
Turns wounds to blessings, water into wine;
And takes me into places
Where I've never been before,
And opens doors to worlds outside the lines.

Refrain:

We'll never walk on water
If we're not prepared to drown,
Body and soul need a soaking from time to time.
And we'll never move the gravestones
If we're not prepared to die,
And realize there are worlds outside the lines.

My soul longs to colour outside the lines,
Tear back the curtains, sun, come in and shine;
I want to walk beyond the boundaries
Where I've never been before,
Throw open doors to worlds outside the lines. R.

My soul longs to colour outside the lines,
Tear back the curtains, sun, come in and shine;
I want to walk beyond the boundaries
Where I've never been before,
Throw open doors to worlds outside the lines. R.

Commissioning and Benediction

As we travel on this Lenten journey,
We know that God leads and guides us.
As we travel on this Lenten journey,
We notice the words of Jesus
making choices for life.
As we travel on this Lenten journey,
we dream and work with the Spirit for a world
where peace and harmony are restored.
We leave this place in peace,
going in the love of God.

Go with God. Go with blessings. Go with love.

Amen
