When I Needed a Neighbour
(VU 600, verses 1 & 5)

When I needed a neighbour,
Bere you there, were you there?
When I needed a neighbour,
Were you there?
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter,
Were you there?

Wherever you travel I'll be there,
I'll be there,
Wherever you travel I'll be there.
And the creed and the colour
And the name won't matter,
I'll be there.

Call to Worship

Sometimes, God, we need to gather to lament.
We come ready to trust you with our grief.
Sometimes, God, we need to gather to rage.
We come ready to trust you with our anger.
Sometimes, God, we need to gather
To witness and to weep.
We come ready to trust that you
Will comfort us in our time of need.
Sometimes, we just need to be here
Together and sit in the pain.
And so, we come ready to just be,
Together, and to trust you
With all of who we are.
Let us worship the God
Who loves the whole of us beyond measure
And without exception.

Be Thou My Vision
(VU 642)

Be Thou my Vision, O joy of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom,
My calm in all in all strife;
I ever with Thee and thou in my life;
Thou loving parent, thy child may I be,
Thou in me dwelling, and I one with thee.

Be thou my battle shield, sword for the fight;
Be thou my dignity, thou my delight,
Thou my soul's shelter, thou my high tower;
Raise thou me heavenward,
O power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor vain empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and thou only, the first in my heart,
Great God of heaven,
My treasure thou art.

Great God of heaven, after victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys,
O bright heaven's sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O ruler of all.

Spirit, Open My Heart
(MV 79)

Refrain: Spirit, open my heart
To the joy and pain of living.
As you love may I love,
In receiving and in giving,
Spirit, open my heart.

God, replace my stony heart
Wth a heart that's kind and tender.
All my coldness and fear
T your grace I now surrender.
R

Write your love upon my heart
A my law, my goal, my story.
In each thought, word, and deed,
My my living bring you glory.
R.

May I weep with those who weep,
Share the joy of sister, brother.
In the welcome of Christ,
May we welcome one another.
R.

Open My Eyes, That I May See
(VU 371)

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

Refrain:
Silently now I wait for thee,
Ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth thou sendest clear;
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear. R.

Open my mouth and let me bear
Gladly the warm truth everywhere.
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with thy children thus to share. R.

Deuteronomy 34:1-12

The written text is HERE.

Psalm 90 (VU 805-806)
Parts 1&3)
R: In every age, O God, you have been our refuge.

What Can I Do?
(MV 191)

What can I Do? What can I bring?
What can I say? What can I sing?
I'll sing with joy. I'll say a prayer.
I'll bring my love. I'll do my share.
And Repeat!
(sung twice)

Make Me a Channel of Your Peace
(VU 684)

Make me a channel of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me bring your love;
Where there is injury, your healing power,
And where there's doubt, true faith in you:

R: O Spirit, grant that I may never seek
So much to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand,
To be loved as to love with all my soul.

Make me a channel of your peace:
Where there's despair in life,
Let me bring hope;
Where there is darkness, only light;
And where there's sadness, ever joy.
R.

Make me a channel of your peace.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
In giving to all that we receive,
And in dying that we're born
To eternal life.
R.
