The Summerlea congregation and local community were treated to a Welcome Back Barbeque after the
service on September 20, 2009. The weather was sunny and fresh, perfect for an outdoor gathering. Rev. Heather
had been invited to keep the service short, so all gathered on the lawn before 11:30 to enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs
cooked on the barbeque along with juice, coffee and desserts. Invitations had been deposited in neighbouring mailboxes and a number of folks from the surrounding community joined in, along with Jeff Barlow, Bernard and a number of folks from St. Andrew's United Church after their service was over. Our thanks to the McKenzies, Maklans, Osbornes, the youth group and others who acquired and prepared, provided barbies, set up, cooked, served and cleaned up. The photos on this page are pickable to see a larger version. They were shot without warning, so we find some folks stuffing their mouths or in otherwise non-glamorous poses, but them's the breaks. We missed most of the neighbours and the St. Andrew's folks because the snap-shooter got involved in feeding his face and shooting the breeze. |
